Lac la Biche, AB – visited October 2015

The city of Lac la Biche was home to some the earliest Muslim settlers in the country, who eventually built the second purpose built mosque in Canada. The historic building was eventually outgrown, and the community of Lac la Biche commissioned another purpose built space, the al Kareem mosque, which also demonstrates some influence from the historic al Rashid mosque.

Red Deer, AB – visited October 2015

The small community of Red deer used a number of different spaces before the construction of the purpose built space, the Salah el Deen – Red Deer Islamic centre.
